This policy applies to this website only. It describes how Ciel (“we,” “us”) collects, uses and discloses information when you visit this site or join the waitlist. The Ciel desktop application is governed by its own separate privacy policy, provided with the application.

Information we collect

Information you give us. If you join the waitlist or write to us, we collect the email address you submit and anything else you choose to include in your message.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, ours records basic technical information when you visit:

• IP address and approximate region derived from it
• Browser type, operating system and device type
• Pages viewed, referring page and time of visit

How we use information

• To add you to the waitlist and tell you when access opens
• To respond to questions and requests you send us
• To understand how the site is used so we can improve it and keep it working
• To protect the site against abuse and security incidents, and to comply with legal obligations

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising or marketing purposes.

Legal bases

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process personal information on the basis of your consent (waitlist signup and non-essential cookies), our legitimate interests (site security, analytics, responding to your messages), and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies: those strictly necessary for the site to function, and analytics that help us count visits and see which pages are useful. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking non-essential cookies will not prevent you from using the site.

Service providers

We rely on a small set of vendors to run the site, including hosting, email delivery and website analytics. These providers process information only on our instructions and only as needed to perform their service. We may also disclose information where required by law, or in connection with a sale or transfer of the project, in which case we will note the change here.

Where information is processed

Our hosting and email providers operate globally, so information collected through this site may be processed in countries other than your own. Where personal information is transferred out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Retention

We keep waitlist email addresses until you ask us to remove them or until the waitlist is closed and no longer needed. Correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable period afterward. Analytics data is kept in aggregated or pseudonymized form.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port or restrict the processing of your personal information, to object to processing, and to opt out of marketing email. California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion or correction, to opt out of sale or sharing (we do neither), and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@getciel.app. Every email we send also includes an unsubscribe link. If you are in the EEA or UK and are unhappy with our response, you may complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information collected through this site. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but you can read more about our approach on the security page.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above, and material changes will be announced on this page.
